Bodega Bay, California: Ocean Views
Bodega Bay, California
About a week and a half ago I took a short, evening trip to Bodega Bay for dinner and some photos. Dinner was salmon at the Tides Wharf Restaurant & Bar. I've been to this restaurant a few times before, also when visiting the coast. The best thing about this place is the big, open windows with picturesque views of the bay. On this evening in particular, there were plenty of wind surfers roaming the waters. Along the Sonoma coast, there are many state beaches. These are the two main ones I stopped to gaze awhile at the view.
Sonoma Coast State Beach: Marshall Gulch
Driving along the coast up California highway 1. It's a quiet drive, just you and the road. (But you definitely don't want to get lost here as there's no cell phone service around)!
Sonoma Coast State Beach: Portuguese Beach
As the sun began to set for the day, the waves came crashing in with force.
About two minutes after this was taken, the large crowd gathered to take a group photo.
Secrets at Sunset in Bodega Bay
The ocean is at its most beautiful this time of day. The last bit of sunlight fades into the horizon. The ocean, the waves, and all they bring to the shore are a mystery to me. Most people find the ocean calming. I do too but it's also a bit scary. Ocean waters for miles and miles, it looks like the world just drops off. Only the sky, the sun, and the moon knows the secrets underneath these waves.
